Hi, my name is Derek Lam, and I’m a pre-junior at Drexel University majoring in Finance with a minor in Computer Science. As a first-generation college student from Philadelphia, I’ve learned the value of seeking out opportunities and mentorship that weren’t always readily available to me. Now, I want to pay it forward by helping the next generation of students navigate their own paths. Through mentorship, I hope to provide the guidance, support, and resources that can help others reach their goals and excel in their careers.

I want to be a mentor because I want to offer support to other students who were in my shoes. I enjoy offering support, guidance, and advice to support growth. Being a mentor also allows me to strengthen my own skills while still giving back to the Ascend community.

Hi l’m Jenny, a Finance and Management Information Systems major. I’m passionate about leadership, personal growth, and helping others find their path in both academics and career development. Through my involvement in organizations like Ascend and the Philadelphia Suns, I’ve learned the importance of community, mentorship, and giving back. As a mentor, I hope to support students by sharing my experiences, gaining confidence, and helping them navigate opportunities for success.

I’ve always looked up to other people for advice about personal growth and professional development and learned a lot from everyone that has helped me. Hey, I'm Sophia! I'm a 4th-year Honors MIS student and a Talent Acquisition Intern at ATPCO. I'm from Philly and have four cats, three of whom love meeting new people! :3 My own experience as a transfer student is why I'm so passionate about mentorship. My Ascend mentor helped me feel welcomed and acclimate quickly at Drexel and even encouraged me to enter the first Ascend case competition where I won 2nd place with my team! I'm excited to pay that forward. With my firsthand recruiting experience, I can help you build meaningful connections that go beyond basic networking and show you how to make your resume and interview skills shine.

I have extensive experience searching for co-op roles independently and want to assist other students in finding and applying for positions that suit them best. As a skilled communicator, I'd like to support students with interviewing and presenting themselves to employers or an audience. I also want to help students learn how to network effectively with coworkers, professionals, and other students.

I will be my mentee's #1 cheerleader and support them through their personal or professional endeavors! I have a lot of experience and skills when it comes to professionalism, seeking out opportunities, and communication. At the end of the day, I just want to see my mentee succeed! I want to be a mentor for many reasons, but one of the biggest is that I was fortunate enough to have a really good mentor myself—and I hold that expectation of being a good mentor very highly. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and creating a funny, welcoming space where others feel comfortable being themselves. I can for sure say that I have a very...animated personality and like to express myself in ways that make me comfortable. I want to offer guidance or just simply be there to listen and support someone through personal challenges, I find real value in being that steady, reliable presence for someone else :)

Hello!! My name is Helen, and I'm currently a senior double majoring in MIS and BSAN. I've completed co-ops as a data analyst at PECO and as a Technical Program Manager at Comcast. I became a mentor because I wanted to give back to the same community that supported my own growth. By becoming a mentor, I hope to continue that cycle and support others in their journeys. After being part of Ascend’s Mentorship Program since my freshman year, I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful this program can be and I want to pay it forward by being a support system for others. The network I’ve built through Ascend has been invaluable, and it has been such a rewarding experience to be involved. As a returning mentor, I’m excited to keep building up our community while also helping my mentees gain the same insight, advice, and encouragement I benefited from through this program.

I joined Ascend because I wanted to join a business-focused community but continued on in a leadership role because I wanted to continue to provide guidance and support to the underclassmen. I want to be a mentor one final time to be able to provide all of the things that I learned to an ambitious student and hopefully make an impact in someone's career journey before I graduate!

Hi, I'm Vivian! I'm an EAM major with minors in Business Admin and Art History. I joined Ascend as a way to develop the professional/business side of my major. I loved the community so much, enough to join E-Board for the past 2 years. I did self-search for both my co-ops, and am very familiar with the process if you've been wondering about it and have questions! As a mentor, I not only hope to support and encourage my mentee to succeed in their career both in and out of Drexel, but also to be a friend and familiar face.

I would like to be a mentor because I like to meet new people and would love the opportunity to support other students. Back at home I volunteered a lot and taught kids chinese and I found that to be very rewarding. I had amazing mentors last year and would love to give back!

Currently a senior, majoring Management Information System and Business Analytics. I love eating sushi especially all you can eat sushi. I want to be a mentor to help other students figure things out and share what I’ve learned from my own co-op experiences.

I am a third year student that was not always locked in. I want to guide other students on a path towards success while also having fun. Coming to Drexel is intimidating but I want to guide other students on their journey.

I've had the opportunity to have many mentors and significant people who have helped shape me and develop me into the person I am today! I am looking to continue on their legacy and help build others up whether it be professionally or even just as a friend. I can help provide others with many technical skills, soft skills, and networking, and look forward in supporting others. 

Last year I was surrounded with unwavering support by the foundation Ascend was able to lay through the mentorship program. One of the many reasons I’ve been able to position myself where I am today is because of my mentor. Now, I’m excited to give back the support I was given previously!

My name is Peter and I major in MIS and minor in SWE. I like thrifting, playing basketball, and lifting in my free time. I want to be a mentor because I want to guide younger students throughout their college career because I went through this program and learned how valuable mentorship is.

I had such an amazing mentor when I first joined, and I’d love to be that same person for my mentees. I’m always down to help out — whether it’s school stuff, career advice, or just life in general. I can’t wait to grow the fam even more and have plenty of fun hangouts (and boba runs, of course).
